Diminutive Thai fighter Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (19-5-1, 7ko) trumped the taller Tomas Rojas (36-13-1, 24ko) via split decision on Friday, August 19 at the Khunmuangsri Stadium in the Srisaket Province under hot and humid conditions. Suriyan was in the ascendancy for the first eight rounds and, despite a late surge from former champion Rojas, had done enough to wrest the WBC super flyweight championship belt away from the Mexican’s grasp.
