Inexperienced Romanian heavyweight Bogdan Dinu produced a first round knockout and gave himself a reputation as one to keep an eye on as Awadh Tamim was dispatched with ease at the Romexpo, Bucharest, Romania on Saturday, July 9. Dinu looked in great condition, towered over his opponent, showed good skill with a strong command of a variety of punches and had Tamim canvassed within two minutes.
Hometown favourite Bogdan Dinu, a towering heavyweight who would measure 6’6+, fought tall in his contest with Awadh Tamim.
The two big-men roused the crowd, partly because Dinu is Romanian but also because the pace of their fight was eye-catching. Dinu was in with his first opponent who had a winning record and, when Tamim attacked and forced him back onto the ropes, Dinu responded in positive fashion with punishing right cross shots and hook punches.
He effectively used his angles to get away from the ropes and, inside one round, had Tamim on the deck due to two stellar right hands. Tamim was on his feet and ready to respond by the count of nine but the referee waved the fight off and thereby awarded Dinu a technical knockout victory.
Dinu, an athletic heavyweight who had swift hands to add to his physical prowess, rose to 6-0-0, 3ko while Tamim slumped to 12-3-0, 7ko.
